Let me take you through my journey at this incredible event.

Adventures That Took My Breath Away

As soon as I arrived, the adventure-filled itinerary had me captivated. Surrounded by lush greenery and rugged terrain, Yelbong proved to be an adventurer’s paradise.

Cycling Rally: A Scenic Adventure on Two Wheels

The festival kicked off with a much-anticipated 13-kilometer cycling rally from Odlabari to Yelbong, and what an incredible experience it was!

The route was nothing short of spectacular, winding through lush green landscapes, quaint villages, and the breathtaking Selroti Bridge.

The early morning mist added a magical touch to the ride, as the sun slowly peeked through the hills, casting golden hues over the valleys.

The rally wasn’t just about cycling - it was a sensory experience. The chirping of birds provided a rhythmic backdrop, and every turn revealed a new perspective of the serene Kalimpong countryside.

Cycling past cascading streams, terraced farms, and dense foliage, I couldn’t help but pause to take in the sheer beauty around me. The Selroti Bridge, an architectural marvel, marked a highlight of the ride. Crossing it felt symbolic - a gateway from the mundane to the extraordinary.

Though the journey was physically demanding at times, the camaraderie among participants and the encouraging cheers of locals lining the route kept our spirits high. It was the perfect way to immerse myself in Yelbong’s natural splendor and set the tone for the thrilling days ahead.

Trekking and Canyon Exploration: A Journey into the Wild

TrekkingExploring Yelbong’s rugged terrains was an adventure like no other. The trek began early in the morning, with a guide leading our group through dense forests and narrow trails. The earthy aroma of soil, combined with the soft rustle of leaves underfoot, created an almost meditative atmosphere.

As we delved deeper into the wilderness, the landscape began to change dramatically. Towering cliffs and river stream appeared as if straight out of a postcard. The canyons of Yelbong, known for their striking formations, were the crown jewel of the trek.

Climbing the huge rocks and walking through the super cold water in the cannon, I was left in awe of the sheer scale and beauty of these natural wonders.

The trek was not without its challenges - steep ascents and rocky paths tested our endurance, but every effort was worth it.

The canyon exploration added an element of thrill. Climbing down narrow crevices and navigating through rugged terrain brought out the adventurer in me. It was an immersive experience, connecting me to the raw, untouched beauty of Yelbong.

The sense of accomplishment I felt at the end of the trek was indescribable - it was a journey that truly pushed my limits and rewarded me with unforgettable memories.

Ziplining and Rappelling: Soaring High and Descending with Grace

RappellingIf trekking introduced me to the rugged charm of Yelbong, ziplining and rappelling gave me a bird’s-eye view of its stunning landscapes. The ziplining experience was nothing short of magical.

As I stood on the launch platform, high above the dense canopy, my heart raced with excitement and anticipation. The guide gave me a reassuring nod, and before I knew it, I was soaring through the air.

The rush of the wind, combined with the panoramic views of emerald-green forests and distant hills, was exhilarating. Gliding over treetops, I felt like I was flying, and for those fleeting moments, the world below seemed to fade away.

The sheer thrill of the ride was amplified by the unmatched beauty of the surroundings - a perfect blend of adventure and nature.

Rappelling was a whole new kind of challenge. Descending a rugged cliff face required focus, strength, and trust in the equipment and the guides.

As I carefully made my way down, I was struck by the sense of freedom it brought. Every step, though nerve-wracking, was a reminder of my own capability and courage.

What made these activities even more special was the way they connected me to Yelbong’s landscapes. They weren’t just adventure sports - they were a way of experiencing the region from entirely new perspectives.

Whether soaring high or descending with care, these moments will forever remain etched in my memory as some of the most thrilling and rewarding experiences of the festival.

The highlight was catching a glimpse of the elusive Black-throated Sunbird, its iridescent feathers gleaming in the morning sunlight.

The tranquility of the forest, combined with the thrill of spotting these feathered beauties, was a soul-soothing experience that I’ll cherish forever. Yelbong’s commitment to preserving its natural habitat made this moment even more special.
