Thailand may soon make your 2025 travel plans even more rewarding. The government has announced a proposed tourism campaign that would give away 200,000 free domestic flight tickets to international visitors later this year.
Thailand plans to give away 200,000 free domestic flight tickets to international tourists between August-December 2025. The campaign aims to ease overcrowding in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket by encouraging travel to lesser-known destinations like Isaan, Sukhothai, and Ayutthaya. Each visitor could get up to two free tickets, with six airlines participating.
The program, called “Buy International, Free Thailand Domestic Flights,” is designed to ease overtourism in hotspots like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket while encouraging travelers to explore Thailand’s hidden gems. If approved, the scheme will run from August to December 2025 (with travel operations likely between September and November).
Tourism and Sports Minister Sorawong Thienthong confirmed that the plan will be submitted to the Cabinet, with funding provided through the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).

International tourists flying into Thailand will be eligible for up to two free domestic flight tickets (or one-way, if preferred).
Flights will be offered in partnership with six national airlines.
Each round-trip ticket normally costs about 3,500 baht (1,750 baht one-way).
A 20kg baggage allowance is included.

The campaign’s goal is to draw visitors to destinations that are often overlooked yet rich in culture and natural beauty. Travelers may soon enjoy free flights to regions such as:
Isaan – Thailand’s authentic northeast with traditional villages and food.
Sukhothai – a UNESCO World Heritage site and the birthplace of Thai civilization.
Ayutthaya – the ancient capital with majestic ruins and temples.

By opening the skies to less-traveled provinces, Thailand aims to reduce congestion in its busiest hubs while boosting local economies across the country.
If the Cabinet approves the plan, Thailand could see a major shift in how travelers experience the country in late 2025.
