Booking a ticket for the Vande Bharat Express just became much easier and more flexible! Indian Railways has introduced a fantastic new system that lets you book a seat up to 15 minutes before the train leaves your station. This is a big change from the old rule where you couldn't book a ticket once the train had departed from its starting point.
This new "current booking" feature is a result of an upgrade to the Passenger Reservation System. It's a real game-changer, especially for those of us who have to make last-minute travel plans or are boarding the train at a stop along its route.

Indian Railways introduced this new system to benefit everyone involved.
For the Passengers: This rule is a lifesaver for anyone with last-minute travel plans, which are very common in India. Previously, if you missed the booking cutoff, your only option was to find another mode of transport. This new policy gives you the flexibility to travel on the fast and comfortable Vande Bharat Express, even on short notice.
For the Railways: By allowing last-minute bookings, the railways can fill seats that would have otherwise gone vacant. This increases revenue and ensures that these premium trains are being used to their full potential. It's a smart, efficient, and passenger-friendly solution.

The routes connect major cities in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. If all goes well, we can look forward to seeing this feature expanded to more trains across the country! Here are the list of the eight Vande Bharat Express trains where you can now book a ticket up to 15 minutes before departure:

Last-Minute Reservations: You can now book tickets up to 15 minutes before the train's scheduled arrival at your specific boarding station.
Intermediate Stations: This is great news if you're getting on at a station in the middle of the journey. You're no longer out of luck just because the train has already left its origin.
Increased Flexibility: This new policy gives you a lot more freedom to travel on your own schedule and helps ensure that empty seats don't go to waste.
Easy Online Booking: You can use this new booking option directly on the IRCTC website or through the IRCTC Rail Connect mobile app.

No Boarding Point Changes: You can't change your boarding station for a ticket booked with this system.
Cancellation Rules: The cancellation policy is the same as for regular bookings. Be sure to cancel at least four hours before departure for a possible refund.
Luggage Rules: Vande Bharat trains have specific luggage limits. Space is limited to overhead racks, so large suitcases are not allowed.
Valid ID is a Must: Always carry a valid photo ID that matches your ticket details for verification during the journey.
This new system is a fantastic step forward for Indian travelers. With last-minute plans being so common, this flexibility is a huge relief, especially for those boarding at intermediate stations. It's a win-win: passengers get more convenient travel options, and the railways can ensure every seat is utilized, making the service more efficient for everyone. It shows Indian Railways is truly committed to a more practical and passenger-friendly experience.
