India’s fastest blue marvel is back on track, literally and figuratively. As the Vande Bharat Express gears up to race down three brand-new routes starting August 10, 2025, train travel in India is getting a stylish upgrade.
Whether you're chasing the buzzing energy of Pune to Ahmedabad, the soulful calm between Amritsar and Delhi, or the scenic adventure from Katra to Delhi, these new routes are more than just additions; they’re travel experiences.
With better time savings, plush comfort, and the trademark swiftness of India’s homegrown semi-high-speed train, the Vande Bharat isn’t just moving people, it’s reshaping the way we move. From techies to temple hoppers, there’s now a sleek new ride waiting at your nearest platform.
The Indian Railways continues to transform with the ever-expanding Vande Bharat Express network. Known for speed, comfort, and modern amenities, these semi-high-speed trains are now launching three new routes from August 10, 2025.
According to reports confirmed by the Ministry of Railways, passengers can now enjoy Vande Bharat Express services on the following sectors:
Bengaluru to Belagavi
Ajni (Nagpur) to Pune
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to Amritsar
These are bi-directional routes, so travellers can expect six services in total. This expansion brings the railways closer to achieving its goal of enhanced regional connectivity and faster domestic travel.
Here’s a quick overview of the three new Vande Bharat routes being launched on August 10, 2025:
This new route connects Karnataka’s capital with its northwestern region. The train is expected to reduce travel time significantly while offering a premium, jerk-free experience. It will likely benefit both tech professionals and regional tourists.
This train connects Nagpur’s Ajni station with Pune, a major educational and IT hub. It bridges two key cities in Maharashtra, boosting connectivity between Vidarbha and Western Maharashtra.
This route connects two major spiritual destinations: Vaishno Devi and Amritsar’s Golden Temple. It’s a game-changer for religious tourism, offering a fast and reliable travel option for pilgrims.
Indian Railways has reported record-breaking occupancy rates for Vande Bharat trains. In FY 2024–25, overall occupancy reached 102.01%, thanks to dynamic ticketing and overbooked demand. Even more impressively, between April and June 2025, occupancy jumped to 105.03%.
These numbers reflect strong public trust in the Vande Bharat network. They also explain the need for more routes across strategic regions.
Vande Bharat trains are designed to run at speeds of up to 180 km/h, with operational speeds of 160 km/h. This reduces travel times drastically compared to regular express trains.
Each Vande Bharat Express is equipped with KAVACH, India’s indigenous automatic train protection system. It helps avoid collisions and ensures passenger safety.
These trains feature:
Fully air-conditioned coaches
UV-C disinfection systems in AC ducts
Automatic plug doors and sealed gangways
Jerk-free couplers for smooth rides
Bio-vacuum toilets, improved fire safety systems
Divyangjan-friendly lavatories and wide coach doors
CCTV surveillance, emergency talk-back units, and fire detection systems
Coach Condition Monitoring System (CCMS) for real-time diagnostics

The new Vande Bharat Express services will be available in 8, 16, or 20-coach formations. Passengers can choose from two primary classes:
Chair Car (CC): Comfortable, economical, and fully air-conditioned
Executive Chair Car (EC): Premium, with additional legroom, wider seats, and business-class style service
These coaches ensure a high-quality travel experience for all types of passengers, commuters, students, families, and business travellers.

Each of the three routes connects major economic, spiritual, and tourism hubs, solving previous gaps in regional mobility.
The Katra–Amritsar Vande Bharat will especially benefit pilgrims heading to Vaishno Devi or The Golden Temple, both of which attract millions annually.
New links between Ajni and Pune as well as Bengaluru and Belagavi support education, employment, and inter-city commuting with a focus on comfort and speed.
