If your 9-to-5 daydreams include skyscrapers, spotless streets, and laksa for lunch, Singapore might just be calling. For many Indians, this sleek, global city is more than just a tourist hotspot; it’s a promising land of career growth, tech opportunities, and clean commutes.
But before you can swap your home office for a Marina Bay view, you’ll need the golden ticket: a Singapore work visa.
Here’s your complete and clear guide to navigating the Singapore work visa process for Indian citizens.
Not all work visas are created equal. Depending on your job type, salary, and qualifications, Singapore offers different types of employment passes. Let’s decode the main ones:
For: Professionals, managers, and executives
Salary Requirement: At least SGD 5,000/month (higher for experienced candidates)
Issued By: Ministry of Manpower (MOM)
Validity: Up to 2 years initially; renewable
For: Mid-skilled workers (technicians, supervisors, etc.)
Salary Requirement: At least SGD 3,150/month (more for experienced)
Quota Restrictions: Employers must meet local workforce quotas
Validity: Up to 2 years; renewable
For: Entrepreneurs wanting to start a business in Singapore
No minimum salary, but must meet funding or business innovation criteria.
For: Semi-skilled workers in construction, marine, manufacturing, etc.
Sponsored by: Employer
Quota-bound and sector-specific

Here's the twist you can’t apply for a Singapore work visa without a job offer. The employer (not the applicant) typically submits the application on your behalf. So your first mission:
Build a killer resume tailored to Singaporean employers
Apply via job portals like MyCareersFuture, JobStreet Singapore, and LinkedIn
Reach out to recruiters and HR professionals
Once selected, your employer will handle the paperwork for your work visa

Once you’re hired, your employer will apply to the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) for the appropriate pass. The process is mostly digital and efficient.
Valid passport
Educational certificates (with transcripts)
Resume/CV
Past work experience letters
Passport-sized photo (recent)
Written consent form (if required)
For EP and S Pass, your qualifications and experience will be verified through MOM’s approved channels (like DataFlow or third-party screening agencies).
Singapore’s efficiency extends to its immigration too. The processing time is generally:
Employment Pass (EP): 3 to 8 weeks
S Pass: 1 to 3 weeks
Work Permit: Around 1 week (sector-dependent)
You and your employer can track the application status online on the MOM website.
Once approved, you’ll receive an In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter, which is your green signal to enter Singapore. It’s valid for 6 months.
You can now:
Book your flight
Arrange accommodation (short-term rental or Airbnb to begin with)
Prepare to move, don’t forget international travel insurance!
Once you land:
Undergo a medical check-up at an approved Singapore clinic (if required)
Schedule an appointment with MOM to get your visa card issued
Collect your Work Pass ID card, it’s proof of your legal employment in Singapore
Yes, Singapore allows family members to join you under dependent passes, provided you meet salary and employment conditions:
EP holders earning SGD 6,000/month or more can sponsor spouse and children
Dependant’s Pass and Long-Term Visit Pass applications are also submitted by the employer
