Imagine India’s Vande Bharat Express about to leave the platform and someone brings it to a screeching halt by sticking out their leg. No, this isn’t a movie scene, something very similar just happened in China.
On 18 April 2025, a high-speed train at Shenzhen North Station was moments away from departure when a woman dramatically blocked its doors, not by mistake, but quite deliberately.
According to viral footage circulating on Chinese social media, the woman was seen on the phone, visibly anxious, and forcefully keeping the train doors open using her leg. Yes, her leg. This wasn’t a short delay, it became a full-blown disruption.
As the train’s alarm blared and platform staff rushed in, the woman refused to move. She waved frantically toward the distance. Seconds later, a woman and two children appeared, sprinting toward the train with luggage in tow.
The original woman helped one of the kids climb on board, stepped in herself, and only then did the doors finally close. The train D2404, departed, but not before gaining national attention and backlash online.

Chinese netizens didn’t hold back. Comments slammed the woman’s behaviour as selfish and hazardous. “Trains run on tight schedules,” one person wrote. “This could’ve delayed multiple trains. You don’t gamble with safety like that.”
China’s high-speed railway is known globally for its efficiency, and even small disruptions can trigger wider delays, something many Indian train commuters would be all too familiar with.

On 20 April, the Shenzhen Railway Police confirmed the woman had been detained for disrupting public transportation, an act considered illegal under Chinese law. Authorities reminded the public that forcing your way onto trains isn't just bad etiquette, it can be a safety hazard and a punishable offence.
While India continues to upgrade its rail infrastructure, stories like this are a reminder that respecting train schedules isn’t just polite, it’s part of keeping the entire system running smoothly.
So the next time you see the doors about to close, resist the urge to make a dash and definitely don’t try stopping a train with your leg. Not worth the drama. Or the police record.
