Pathanamthitta: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is finalizing plans to provide snacks, bottled water, tea, and coffee on its long-distance buses, bringing significant relief to passengers. This initiative aims to address the common complaint about the lack of refreshments during extended trips.

The food items will be placed on a shelf near the driver's cabin, replacing the television space in tourist buses. Additionally, a vending machine for tea and coffee will be installed. KSRTC plans to offer easily consumable light snacks to passengers.
To set up the food shelf and vending machine, KSRTC will lease the space to private contractors and has invited bids for this purpose. However, the payment method for the food items is still being decided. The project will first be implemented on Swift buses traveling to Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Mangaluru from Pathanamthitta. Eventually, this service will be available on long-distance routes from all depots across the state.
