Imagine getting your flights, accommodation, meals and holiday experiences paid for, all while travelling to a beautiful European country and possibly meeting someone special. Sounds like a dating show? Well, Finland is turning that idea into a real-life travel experience!
Finland has launched an unusual tourism campaign called Finnish Dinner Date, inviting 16 single people from around the world to experience Finnish culture, food and social life through a specially organised trip in February 2027.
And yes, Indian applicants can participate too.
The campaign is attracting attention because it combines three things people rarely say no to: a free international holiday, cultural experiences and the possibility of finding a romantic connection.
The initiative is part of Visit Finland's larger food tourism campaign, Have Some Finnish. Unlike conventional tourism advertisements that showcase landscapes, hotels and popular attractions, this campaign takes a slightly different route: it wants international visitors to experience Finland through its food and people.
The idea is simple. Selected travellers will be invited on a four-day culinary trip, with the experience culminating in a group dinner date alongside Finnish singles.
A total of 16 international participants will be selected, with eight travellers assigned to each of the two experiences:
Helsinki: The experience will introduce visitors to the food and culinary traditions of the Helsinki region.
Tampere: The second group will explore the food culture of Finland's Lakeland region.
Each group will also meet two local Finnish singles during the dinner. The event is designed as a relaxed group experience rather than a traditional one-on-one blind date.

One of the biggest attractions of this campaign is that selected participants will not have to organise the entire holiday themselves.
According to Visit Finland, the selected travellers will receive an all-expenses-paid, four-day hosted experience.
The package includes:
Return flights to Finland.
Accommodation during the trip.
Meals and culinary experiences.
Organised activities and a hosted itinerary.
An exclusive group dinner featuring one of Finland's official tasting menus.
The exact destination, either Helsinki or Tampere, will be revealed to participants after their selection is confirmed.
The experiences will take place between February 9 and February 19, 2027.
Here is the interesting part: the campaign is open to international applicants, meaning Indians can also try their luck.
The main eligibility requirements are:
Applicants must be single adults.
Applications are open to people from around the world.
Finnish residents are excluded.
Applications must be submitted individually.
Applicants must be available to travel between February 9 and 19, 2027.
There is no requirement to be a professional content creator or have a massive social media following mentioned in the official application instructions.
Applications close on November 10, 2026.
Applications open until November 10, 2026
If you are interested in experiencing Finland without paying for the main trip expenses, here is how to enter.
Step 1: Create a short video
Applicants must record a video in English answering one question:
What would you serve on a dinner date, and why?
The idea is to showcase your personality, creativity and approach to food rather than simply give a conventional answer.
Step 2: Post the video on social media
Upload your video to one of the following platforms:
TikTok
YouTube
Use the hashtag #FinnishDinnerDate and tag the official Visit Finland account on the platform you choose.
Your Instagram or TikTok profile must be public so the organisers can view your submission. YouTube videos can be public or unlisted.
Step 3: Complete the application form
Visit the official campaign website, fill in the application form and include the link to your social media video.

The campaign is not just about finding love. It is also an interesting way of introducing international travellers to Finnish culture.
The inspiration comes partly from a trend known as Sinkkukori, which translates to 'single basket'.
In some Finnish supermarkets, single shoppers can pick up pink shopping baskets to subtly signal that they are open to meeting someone. It is a playful way of encouraging people to interact outside dating apps.
Visit Finland has taken this idea a step further by bringing international singles together over food, travel and shared experiences.
The campaign also highlights Finnish cuisine, which is relatively unfamiliar to many international travellers. From wild berries and mushrooms to fresh fish and traditional regional dishes, the country's food culture is closely connected to its seasons and natural surroundings.

While the opportunity sounds exciting, there are a few practical things Indian applicants should keep in mind.
Schengen visa: Indian passport holders generally need a Schengen visa to visit Finland. Being selected for the campaign does not automatically mean visa approval.
Visa expenses: The campaign's headline offer covers the hosted trip, but applicants should confirm visa fees and related expenses directly through the official terms.
Travel availability: Selected participants must be available during the February 9–19 travel window.
Selection: Applying does not guarantee selection. Visit Finland will contact successful applicants personally.
Authenticity: Apply only through the official Visit Finland campaign website. Avoid third-party agents asking for money or promising guaranteed selection.
Finland has repeatedly used creative tourism campaigns to attract international visitors. Instead of simply advertising its natural beauty, the country is finding unusual ways to make travellers experience its lifestyle.
The Finnish Dinner Date campaign combines culinary tourism, social interaction and destination marketing into one experience.
It also gives Helsinki and Tampere an opportunity to introduce their regional food traditions to a wider international audience.
For travellers, it offers something beyond the usual European holiday itinerary. And for Finland, it is another opportunity to turn international curiosity into actual visitors.
A European holiday with flights, accommodation, food and activities covered is already an attractive proposition. Add a blind group dinner date, local experiences and the possibility of meeting someone interesting, and you have a tourism campaign that is difficult to ignore.
Whether participants find romance, discover a new favourite cuisine or simply return with stories from Finland, the Finnish Dinner Date is certainly one of the more unusual travel campaigns announced for 2027.
If you are single, enjoy travelling and have a creative answer to what makes a perfect dinner date, this might be worth applying for.
