Thailand continues to be one of the top international destinations for Indian tourists in 2025. Known for its rich culture, stunning landscapes, vibrant street markets, and incredible food, Thailand is a haven for travelers. One of the reasons for Thailand’s popularity among Indian travelers is the convenience of the Visa on Arrival (VoA) process. In this guide, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know about the Thailand Visa on Arrival for Indian tourists in 2025, including eligibility, the application process, fees, and important tips for a smooth experience.

The Visa on Arrival (VoA) is a convenient option for Indian tourists traveling to Thailand for short-term trips, primarily for tourism purposes. It allows Indian travelers to get their visa at designated immigration checkpoints in Thailand upon arrival, rather than applying for it in advance at an embassy or consulate.
In 2025, Indian passport holders are eligible for the Visa on Arrival, allowing them to stay in Thailand for up to 15 days. This is a great option for those planning a quick getaway to popular Thai destinations like Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, and Krabi.

Indian tourists must carry the following documents for the Visa on Arrival process in Thailand:
1) Completed Visa on Arrival application form. This form is available at the immigration checkpoints or can be downloaded from the official Thai immigration website beforehand.
2) 2 recent passport-sized photos taken against a white background
3) Valid Indian passport (over 30 days validity)
4) Confirmed return or onward flight tickets (within 15 days of arrival).
5) Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or other confirmation)
6) Proof of funds per person (at least 10,000 THB per person and 20,000 THB per family)
7) Visa fee of 2,000 THB (payable in cash and Thai currency)

Once you arrive in Thailand at one of the designated airports or immigration checkpoints, look for the Visa on Arrival counters. Major international airports in Thailand that offer Visa on Arrival services include: Suvarnabhumi Airport (Bangkok), Don Mueang Airport (Bangkok), Phuket International Airport, Chiang Mai International Airport, Krabi International Airport.
At the Visa on Arrival counter, you will be provided with the VoA application form. Alternatively, you can download this form and fill it out beforehand to save time. Provide accurate information on the form, including personal details, passport information, and travel plans.
Submit your completed application form along with all the required documents.
You will need to pay the visa fee of 2,000 THB in cash. (Keeping cash in hand might save your precious time)
After submitting your documents and paying the visa fee, you will undergo a brief interview with immigration officers. They may ask you relevant questions about your travel plans, duration of stay, and reason for visiting Thailand.
Once your application is processed, you will receive your Visa on Arrival sticker in your passport. This visa allows you to stay in Thailand for up to 15 days from the date of entry.
Arrive early: Since Visa on Arrival counters can get extremely busy, especially during peak travel seasons, arriving early will help you avoid long queues and ensure a quicker process.
Pre-fill the application form: If possible, download and complete the Visa on Arrival form before your trip to save time at the airport.
Double-check your documents: Make sure all your documents are in order before heading to the Visa on Arrival counter. This includes having photocopies of your passport, tickets, and accommodation details.
In 2025, Indian tourists can also take advantage of Thailand’s E-Visa on Arrival (E-VoA) service. This option allows travelers to apply for their visa online before arriving in Thailand, making the process faster and more convenient. If you are applying for the E-VOA, you will have to upload the following documents: Passport cover page, Passport bio page, departure and return airline tickets, proof of accommodation and a photograph of size 4x6 cm.
By applying for the E-VoA, Indian tourists can avoid the paperwork and long queues at the airport. The E-Visa is available for a fee of around 2,500 THB (including processing fees), and applications must be submitted at least 24 to 72 hours before departure.
