Emergency Declared at Mumbai Airport After SpiceJet Flight Loses Wheel, All Passengers Safe

Passengers on board a SpiceJet Bombardier Q400 aircraft had an unexpected scare on Friday when one of the plane’s outer wheels detached during takeoff from Kandla airport. The flight, carrying 75 passengers, was headed to Mumbai.

Despite the mid-air snag, the crew continued the journey and brought the aircraft safely to Mumbai, where authorities had declared a full emergency in preparation for landing. The wheel was later found on the runway at Kandla.

Upon arrival in Mumbai, the aircraft touched down smoothly, taxied to the terminal without assistance, and all passengers disembarked safely.

The incident serves as a reminder of the efficiency of aviation safety systems and trained crews, ensuring that even in unexpected situations, passenger safety remains the top priority.
