Manila, Philippines – In a welcome step that will promote tourism and increase bilateral relations, the Philippines has introduced a lenient visa policy with visa-free entry for Indian citizens under certain circumstances. This thrilling piece of news makes it much easier for Indian tourists to discover the breathtaking archipelago.
In the past, Indian nationals typically needed to obtain a conventional visa for a visit to the Philippines. Recent changes in policy have added two primary visa-free categories to make travel easier for most Indian passport holders.
This is a game-changer for short-term tourism. Any Indian citizen who possesses a valid Indian passport can now enter on visa-free entry for a stay not exceeding 14 days. This facility is only for tourism and cannot be extended or changed into other visa categories. It also cannot be applied for transit travel.
Indian Passport: Should be valid for a minimum of six months from your planned duration of stay.
Return or Onward Ticket: Documentation of an onward ticket to India or a return ticket to another nation.
Confirmed Hotel Booking: Document of pre-booked accommodation in the Philippines.
Proof of Funds: You might be asked to present enough funds to support your stay (e.g., bank statements, credit cards, or traveller's checks).
No Derogatory Record: The traveller should not have any derogatory record with the Philippine Bureau of Immigration.
Although initially 14 days, it is possible to extend this visa-free stay by another 7 days, making the total stay 21 days. This extension should be applied for using the proper channels of immigration in the Philippines.
This class is for Indian citizens who already have valid visas or permanent residence in some developed nations. If you have a valid and current visa or permanent residence permit from any of the following nations, you are eligible for a visa-free stay of up to 30 days:
United States (US)
United Kingdom (UK)
Canada
Japan
Australia
Schengen Area member states
Singapore
Indian Passport: Valid for a minimum period of six months more than the duration of your intended stay.
Valid Visa/Permanent Residence Permit: An up-to-date and unexpired visa or permanent residence permit of one of the given countries (US, UK, Canada, Japan, Australia, Schengen, Singapore).
Return or Onward Ticket: Document of a confirmed return ticket to India or an onward ticket to another country.
No Derogatory Record: The individual should not have any derogatory record with the Philippine Bureau of Immigration.

Purpose of Visit: Both visa-free categories are mainly for tourism. For other purposes (e.g., work, study, long-term business), a particular visa will still be needed.
E-Visa Facility Still Available: For those who are not eligible for the visa-free scheme, or for longer durations of stay, the Philippines has also implemented a full-fledged e-visa facility for Indian nationals. It is an online application facility that provides a hassle-free substitute for securing a visa for several purposes and extended stays.
No Visa on Arrival: It's important to mention that there is no visa-on-arrival facility for Indian citizens in the Philippines. One should take care to comply with the visa-free conditions or apply for an e-visa/traditional visa while departing.
Travel Insurance: Although not a compulsory requirement for entry at all times, it is strongly advised to have complete travel insurance coverage in place for any unexpected medical issues or trip interruptions.
e-Travel Registration: All individuals traveling to the Philippines, be they visa or non-visa holders, are required to register under the Philippine One-Stop Electronic Travel Declaration System (e-Travel) at least 72 hours prior to arrival. Increasing Tourism and Relations
This forward-looking move by the Philippine government is unequivocal evidence of its intent to draw more Indian tourists, students, and business visitors. The easier entry process is set to considerably increase people-to-people interaction and closer economic and cultural affinities between India and the Philippines. For Indian travel enthusiasts, the beauty of the Philippines' islands, bustle of its cities, and richness of its heritage are within easy reach like never before.
