Welcome to Jaipur, the famous Pink City of India! If this is your first visit in 2025, get ready for a trip filled with beautiful palaces, massive forts, and colourful markets.Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan, and it’s a friendly city that makes you feel like royalty. Here are seven must-do activities with all the simple details you need to plan your adventure.
This is a huge, beautiful fort on a hill! It’s a must-see because of the amazing Mirror Palace (Sheesh Mahal) inside.
Location: Amer, about 11 km North of the main city. You’ll need a taxi or auto-rickshaw to get here.
Timings: The fort is open from 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM. Try to start your day here early to beat the biggest crowds and the midday heat.
Tip: You can also come back in the evening for the fun Sound and Light Show (check seasonal times).
This is the most famous building in Jaipur—the iconic pink wall with 953 little windows. It was built so royal ladies could watch the street festivals without being seen by the public.
Location: Badi Chaupar, Old City. It’s right in the main market area.
Timings: You can go inside from 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM.
Tip: Most people take a picture from the street or a rooftop café across the road for the perfect photo of the entire structure.
The City Palace is a stunning complex where the royal family still lives today. It's filled with beautiful courtyards and museums. Look for the famous, beautifully painted doors, especially the stunning Peacock Gate!
Location: Chandra Mahal, Old City (in the very center, right near Hawa Mahal).
Timings: Open for the Museum Tour from 9:30 AM – 6:30 PM. They also offer a special Night Tour from 7:00 PM onwards.
Tip: Look for the ticket office that offers a "Royal Tour" ticket. While more expensive, it lets you see parts of the palace the normal ticket doesn't, like the beautiful blue inner courtyards.
Don't let the name scare you! This is a fascinating old garden filled with giant stone instruments that were used as clocks and calendars hundreds of years ago to track the stars and time. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Location: Jaleb Chowk, Old City (it’s right next door to the City Palace).
Timings: Open from 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM.
Tip: This place is super interesting, but you should hire a guide at the entrance to fully understand how these massive stone tools work.
While Amber Fort is massive, Nahargarh Fort is all about the incredible view. Sitting high on the Aravalli Hills, it offers a peaceful retreat and the absolute best spot to watch the sunset over the entire Pink City.
Location: Aravalli Hills, overlooking the city.
Timings: 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM. It closes early because of its remote hilltop location, so plan your sunset viewing carefully to make sure you get there well before closing time.
Tip: Even though the fort officially closes at 5:30 PM, many visitors drive up to the edge of the fort area just before sunset to enjoy the stunning view and city lights from the roadside or a nearby viewpoint.
This is a fantastic way to spend an evening. It’s a special resort designed to look like a traditional Rajasthani village, giving you a full cultural experience in one spot.
Location: Tonk Road, Sitapura, about 20 km South of the main city center.
Timings: 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM (Daily).
Tip: You get to enjoy local culture like folk dancing, music, puppet shows, and a delicious, unlimited traditional Rajasthani dinner.
Get ready for an explosion of colour! Jaipur is a shopper's dream. The main shopping areas are all in the Old City, and each one is famous for different treasures:
Location: Old City (look for Johari Bazaar for jewelry, Bapu Bazaar for fabrics and leather shoes called Juttis).
Timings: Generally open from 10:30 AM – 7:30 PM.
Tip: Don't be shy about bargaining (asking for a lower price)—it's part of the fun! Keep in mind that some shops, especially in Johari Bazaar, may be closed on Sunday.
Jaipur is truly a city where old-world charm meets amazing culture. With these seven spots, you're all set for an exciting first trip! Remember to wear comfortable shoes, stay hydrated, and be ready to explore the beautiful pink streets. Most importantly, take your time and enjoy the warm hospitality of Rajasthan. Have a wonderful and memorable time in the Pink City!
