An IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Guwahati faced an unexpected detour on Saturday, landing in Dhaka, Bangladesh, due to adverse weather conditions at its intended destination.
The flight, scheduled to arrive in Guwahati at 11:10 PM, encountered thick fog that hampered landing attempts. The pilot initially considered Kolkata and Bhubaneswar as alternatives, but unfavorable weather and a closed runway forced the emergency landing in Dhaka at 4 AM.
The 178 passengers onboard, were left stranded for eleven hours in Dhaka, raising concerns about travel documents and highlighting the challenges of managing unexpected disruptions.
Social media saw frustrated tweets, with passengers requesting expedited assistance from IndiGo. The airline acknowledged the inconvenience and assured ongoing support and a new crew for the return journey.
Among the passengers was Suraj Sing Thakur, who was on his way to Manipur for Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra. His social media post about being in Dhaka without passports garnered attention, adding a humorous touch to the otherwise stressful situation.

After a eleven-hour delay, the flight finally departed Dhaka at 10:25 AM and reached Guwahati at 11:06 AM. This incident highlights the importance of passenger communication and preparedness during unexpected travel disruptions. Airlines must prioritize passenger comfort and ensure timely updates while navigating challenging weather conditions.
