Indonesia is a popular destination for traveling due to its stunning beaches, vibrant culture, and diverse attractions. Whether you're visiting Bali, Jakarta, or one of the country's many beautiful islands, you’ll need to know the visa requirements for entry. Here’s a detailed guide for Indian tourists on how to get a travel visa to Indonesia in 2025.

For Indian travelers who wish to stay in Indonesia for tourism purposes, the Visa on Arrival (VOA) is available. This visa allows you to stay in Indonesia for up to 30 days with the option to extend it for an additional 30 days.
Validity: 30 days
Cost: Around IDR 500,000 (approx. INR 2,500)
Where to get it: At most major international airports and seaports in Indonesia
Required documents:
A valid passport (with at least 6 months of validity from the date of entry)
A return or onward flight ticket
Proof of sufficient funds for your stay
Visa fee (paid in cash or by card at the port of entry)
If you overstay your visa in Indonesia, you may face fines of IDR 1,000,000 (approx INR 5,500) per day, risk detention, deportation, or even a travel ban for a specified period. Once your Visa expires, you cannot apply for a new one without leaving the country. It is recommended to visit the local Immigration Office to request an extension before your visa expires.

Indonesia introduced the Electronic Visa (e-Visa) system, allowing Indian tourists to apply for visas online and not have to hassle at the airport. The e-Visa can be applied for before arrival, eliminating the need to visit an embassy or consulate.
1) Visit the website https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/
2) Click on apply and choose your country, purpose of visit and the type of Visa you prefer.

If you are already in Indonesia on a Visa on Arrival and wish to extend your stay, you can apply for an extension at an immigration office in Indonesia. Make sure to apply at least a week before your visa expires to avoid overstaying, which could lead to fines.
Cost: Around IDR 500,000 (approx. INR 2,500)
Extension period: Additional 30 days

Tourism: Be cautious of phone and gold chain snatching, as well as ATM card skimming, especially in tourist areas like Kuta, Seminyak, and Canggu. Use bank ATMs when possible.
Adventure sports: Exercise caution with adventure activities (ATV rides, snorkeling, etc.), ensuring safety equipment is checked. Emergency medical response can be delayed due to high tourist volume.
Driving: Indian driving licenses are not valid in Indonesia. An International Driving License is required for renting scooters/bikes, as accidents may lead to issues with local authorities and insurance. Before renting vehicles (scooters, ATVs, Jet-Skis, etc.), ensure they have insurance coverage for damages and third-party liability. Many rental vehicles in Bali and elsewhere are uninsured, and renters must cover damage costs.
Travel insurance: Obtain travel health insurance, as medical treatment, especially in Bali, can be expensive.
General caution: Use only reputable tour operators, especially for long taxi hires for sightseeing. Since Indonesia has one of the most strict anti-drug laws, possession or trafficking of banned narcotics is illegal and may lead to severe penalties, including the death sentence for trafficking.
Currency: Carry Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) for transactions, as many places do not accept foreign currency or cards.
